Sweet Relief Food Blogger Bake Sale

It’s hard to believe that it’s been over 7 years since the first Sweet Relief bake sale. That event raised over $1,000 for the Nashville flood relief efforts, and as an unexpected bonus, essentially brought the Nashville Food Bloggers group to life (as word of the event spread, and food bloggers we didn’t even know started crawling out of the woodwork, we we thought it’d be silly not to form an official group once we saw just how many food bloggers there really were in this city). Now, 7 years later, we have well over 200 registered members and host regular food-related events and monthly happy hours. While it’s mostly a social group, we’ve never forgotten how it all started: selling baked goods to raise money for a worthy cause.

We hosted our a second bake sale in 2012, raising over $1,500 for hurricane Sandy relief efforts (wow!)

And now, in light of recent events, it only made sense to resurrect this event once again, this time to show our support for Houston and all those affected by hurricane Harvey. We’ve been through a flood ourselves (granted on a much smaller scale), but we know the toll it takes on a city, and we want Houston and the other affected areas to know that Nashville stands with you and will support you in any way we can.

On Saturday, September 9th, Nashville’s food bloggers unite once again to raise money for hurricane relief efforts, this time in Texas. Sweet Relief 3.0 will run from 12:00 pm until 4:00pm (or until the goodies are gone!) at TailGate brewery in West Nashville. All proceeds from the event will benefit Houston Food Bank and their efforts to provide food, water and supplies to victims of hurricane Harvey.

Be sure to come by and show your support by enjoying sweets for a great cause! Also, don’t forget to RSVP on Facebook and tell all your friends!

Sweet Relief: Nashville Food Blogger Bake Sale
Saturday, September 9th, 12:00-4:00pm
TailGate Beer, 7300 Charlotte Pike, Nashville, TN 37209

I’m not sure what I’ll be baking yet, though I’m hoping I’ll have time to make multiple tasty treats (I’ll be in Columbus, Ohio for a blogger retreat until Thursday evening, which means I won’t have much time to bake). But I can guarantee that there will be cookie dough involved, in one way or another. :)

Want to bake?

If you’d like to contributed home-baked goodies for this fundraiser, please sign up here (general guidelines and drop off information are there as well for your reference).

While we’re calling this a food blogger bake sale, food bloggers, non-food bloggers, and food blog fans are more than welcome to participate! We’re looking for helpers and bakers regardless of blogging status. If you’re not able to bake something, you can still help out the cause by coming by and purchasing goodies, and by spreading the word about this event!

Also, if you are a local business and would like to join our fundraising efforts, please get in touch! We’d love to have a few business partners donating a % of sales during the same time period as the bake sale or even match our total donation dollar for dollar. We’re open to any ideas you may have to increase our impact as much as possible!

Out of town? On a diet?

You can still help out! We encourage you to make a monetary donation to the Houston Food Bank, helping them provide immediate relief to victims of hurricane Harvey and continue recovery efforts. There are also a large number of other reputable charities on the ground making a difference, and we encourage you to donate to those as well.

Thanks in advance for you help in making this event a huge success! See you Saturday!
