When it comes to salt, there’s so much more to explore than plain old iodized. Even beyond kosher and sea salt, there is an entire world of specialty and gourmet salts out there. A unique salt can add the perfect finishing touch to any dish, sweet OR savory. A good, quality salt is more than just sodium, it adds flavor and punch and intensity. With high quality gourmet sea salts like those carried by SaltWorks®, Inc, you get MORE flavor by ultimately using LESS salt.
Like yesterday’s Rosemary and Smoked Salt Roasted Almonds, a gourmet salt can take a dish to delicious new heights. Whether it is a flurry of Himalayan pink salt finishing off your next salad, or a touch of savory smoked salt on your next batch of popcorn. Or hey, sprinkle a bit of flake sea salt on the top of your next batch of chocolate chip cookies (you’ll thank me later).
That’s why I’m so excited for today’s giveaway. Not only will you get the Wildfire® smoked salt blend I used in yesterday’s recipe (along with it’s two smokey companions – a $39.95 value), you’ll also receive the Artisan Bamboo Salt Sampler with 24 gourmet salt flavors in a gorgeous bamboo presentation box. This set alone is valued at $124.95. From black salt to pink salt, fine salt to coarse salt, smoked salt to mountain spring salt, this set has it all. Way more than a grain of salt, I’ll say that much!

I think I’d try a pink sea salt and put it on dark chocolate caramels… yumm
I love a lemon and sea salt mix on veggies and seafood.

Honestly, I don’t have a favorite, as this is a world I have yet to explore…I’d love a chance to try some of these out!

We have tried smoked salt just sprinkled on fish and pan fried.
I love love trying new things, and salt is my best friend. I fell in love with Pink Himalayan in chocolate, but I’m trying to find the perfect salt to go with my rich chocolate pie (makes the perfect accent!).
I love smoked salt on everything, but especially on top of chili.
Just sprinkling any special salt (I love truffle, Jurassic Sea Salt, and Fleur De Hell) over sliced cucumbers is a great snack. Also makes an extra special brunch over a bagel w/cream cheese.
I follow you on Feedly.
Happy Cooking!
I have a Herbs de Cape Cod that I love to used on a roast chickien.
Smoked salt is a hero for cocktails, grilled chops and sprinkled on an intense dark chocolate homemade ice cream.

I had a margarita with smoky black Himalayan salt around the rim – absolutely divine!
My favorite salt is fleur de sel and I love sprinkling it on top of fresh mozzarella for caprese salads!
Right now I am quite enjoying Black Truffle Infused salt. Quite nice for making an inexpensive batch of soup more luxurious.
I don’t really care what brand, but pink Himalayan is amazing!
Vermont Maple– use it with some roasted nuts.. yummy
I only have experience with sea salt and kosher salt.
I’ve not tried gourmet salt, but I’d love the opportunity to do so! I follow your RSS feed on feedly.
I’ve only ever used fleur de sel salt and LOVE it!! I use it on everything!
I don’t have a favorite specialty salt which is why I would love to win this giveaway. I use sea salt a lot in cooking and some baking.

I love to use garlic salt on everything and actually just discovered pink salt- yum!
i don’t have a lot of flavored salts, and the ones that i have are specifically for meat – they’re really good, super smoky and flavorful. i’d love to experiment with some more but i never know where to start, so this would be an amazing prize!
I guess I’ve only really used fleur de sel. I would love to experiment with all these different varieties.
Couldn’t really pick a favorite salt. I’ve only really used kosher salt but I would love a chance to try something new!

I would use the Rosemary salt on pork chops
I like to pretend I’m going to use smoked salts to just kick up my chili and my black bean soup, but in reality lots of it ends up on spicy margaritas.
Really delicious spicy margaritas.
I have had Chipotle salt and it was awesome. not much variety where I live and would love to try more specialty salts!!
I’m new to specialty salt, so I can’t really say (just felt like a bad-ass using flaked sea salt from World Market, hee). I’m guessing I’ll go NUTS for smoked salts, though, because smoked anything (well, vegetarian, heh) is a selling point for me. Smoked cheeses are the best!
I have never used specialty salts but the smokey flavored ones sound amazing. I would live to make those almonds!
My favorite is fleur de sel; I use it as a finishing salt.
No whipped cream on my pumpkin pie thank you. Pass the Fleur de Sel! It’s the greatest combination ever!
Love truffle salt…on anything really…makes it instantly fancy!

I love Maldon flakes on pretty much everything but also enjoy Himalayan pink sea salt. We brought some black “lava” salt home from Hawaii too!
I’ve actually never used specialty salts! Would love to try!
I’ve only used sea salt but I just bought some maple salt at a craft fair that I can’t wait to try. Thanks!
I’ve never even had specialty salt (that I know of!), so I couldn’t say I have a favorite. I’d love to try some out, though, and this looks like the perfect way to find myself a favorite :)

Truffle salt is my favorite. I sprinkle it over everything.
I love this burgandy salt I found – like the wine. We use it on meats!
I’ve never tried any! I’d really like to though..

The Chipotle salt looks delicious. Would be great to sprinkle that on meat before we put it on the grill!
I would love to try them all!! I don’t know what my favorite salt is but would love to taste test them!! :)
They all sound great! Hell fire would be great on roasted nuts. thanks!!
I don’t know that’s why I would love to win the sampler!
A friend gave me some lavendar salt, but I confess I havent’ used it yet. I love to add fleur de sel for that finishing touch. The Murray River – Australian Pink Flake Salt sound fabulous.
My mother’s family was from the mountains and that mountain spring salt is legendary.
Tweeted and followed! @_snackbeast_
Truffle salt, on EVERYTHING!

my current favorite is Maldon salt in smitten kitchens brownies
I have a bit of sel gris that is lovely and reserved only for very special things.
Himalayan pink. I like to use it on toppings for sandwiches.
My workhorse “specialty” salt is Herbamare, which I sprinkle on just about everything, but for a real treat I absolutely adore a pinch of flaky Maldon salt.
Smoked salt! Always adds a little extra something.

I love pink Himalayan sea salt, but I would love an opportunity to try other varieties!
I’m a huge fan of pink Himalayan salt but my favorite is definitely a good fluff of flaky sea salt on cookies. I’m a lover of the sweet/salty flavor. :)
I love salted rice crispy treats, and I was just reading about vanilla salt; sounds like a good combination.
I’m a big fan of adding flaked sea salts to baked goods, but my newest favorite is probably saffron sea salt. I use it in almost everything!

We have a sea salt grinder from Trader Joe’s that is smoked sea salt with garlic and crushed red pepper. My husband alternates between that and sriracha (sometimes both!) to make leftovers interesting :) And I have to agree – if a pot of soup needs a little kick, that salt is an easy answer! YUM! :)

I love sea salt with chocolate, so if like to experiment with some of the flavors sprinkled on truffles.

I have a jar of black truffle sea salt in my pantry. It’s so good that I sometimes eat a few grains straight out of the jar.
I’ve only tried the Himalayan Pink salt, but I’m excited to try all the others! And I’m already subscribed… love your blog!
I haven’t really tried any. Sure would like the chance to explore!
