I’d say it’s about time for another giveaway, don’t you agree? Maggie at Eat Boutique has done it again. This holiday season, she’s got not just one gourmet gift box, but a whole assortment of them. Whether you want the big box or the small one, a box just for jams or a super holiday cocktail kit, any one of her 7 options would make a fabulous gift for the food-lover in your life. She’s even got subscriptions, where you’ll receive monthly shipments of your favorite artisan foods. A gift that truly keeps on giving.
If you’re ordering by the holidays, please try to place your orders before December 15th and take advantage of FREE SHIPPING. And, as a special little bonus for you guys, you can get an extra $5 off your order! Simply enter code LAOO upon checkout.
But enough banter, on to the giveaway (because I wouldn’t dare post about such a fab product without giving one away)! Maggie has donated one of her handmade holiday gift boxes (valued at ($94.95) to one lucky L&OO reader. You can keep the goodies all to yourself, or have it shipped to the recipient of your choice. But if you choose to keep it, we totally won’t judge. :)
The Homemade for the Holidays Gift Box contains candied orange rinds, pecan clusters, shortbread trio, cinnamon chocolate malt biscotti, sesame sage nuts, caramel corn, fleur de sel caramels, and caramelized onion crackers. It’ll satisfy all your cravings – sweet, savory, salty, and fabulous. The only bad thing about it is that I’m ineligible to win (darnit). Or maybe that’s a good thing because I’d totally hoard it for myself (sorry, Taylor).
****GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED!****

I’m excited to surprise my family….by coming home for the holidays, unbeknownst to them!
I am a fan on fb already and I am super excited to give my son a Kindle! He has become a voracious reader lately and it did my heart good to see ‘a kindle for reading’ ranked higher on his wish list than xbox games! ;)

I follow you on twitter & tweeted about the giveaway to my friends.
I am very excited to give a big donation to the animal shelter in person this year. We love going to visit all the animals and bringing in things that will facilitate their care means the world to us!
What started out as a gift search for my mother has turned into a personal obsession. Who doesn’t want an Ipad, but for hundreds less there are Nooks and Kindles and others, oh my! I am overwhelmed by the choices. Perhaps I’ll mull this over when I receive those bamboo cutting boards I’m angling for!

For the second year in a row, I’ll be putting together gift baskets for my family members with the foods that I currently love. This year it will be some locally produced bacon or chorizo, fresh baked sourdough (via my new wild starter), good chocolate, local cheese, and local beer. I’m so excited!
after 10 years my husband and i bought each other a bed for xmas- finally we have graduated from the dorm look and will have an actual headboard!
On Christmas Eve, I take the 2 neighbor girls ages 10 & 7 who call me Aunt Dawn (I’ve known them since birth) to an area mall. We purchase 3-4 gift cards from Starbucks and then spend a couple of hours walking the mall watching people trying to determine who might benefit most from a treat(a gift card). Last year I had the flu and Christmas was/is a blur. Most of all I missed our ritual. The year prior one woman’s story left us all in tears. We had been following her in her motorized cart. She seemed joyful wherever she went. We surprised her with a card. A former air force employ who now works at the VA, she told us the Christmas prior she had breast cancer and was undergoing treatment. Thus she truly was joy full about being alive and well that year! This is a gift I give myself and Ella & Lily through gifting others.

One thing on my holiday wish list is for me and my family to have an amazing Christmas. For everyone to just be happy. I know that sounds corny but for whats going on these days it’s actually just a logical thing to ask for. :)

Saw your blog in the tennessean. Now it is in my favorites.

My parents have a “family tree” photo wall in their dining room that is filled with pictures of their kids and grandkids. I found a beautiful personlized canvas wrap that has a tree on it with 2 big birds and 4 baby birds, representing my parents and my siblings, that has our family name on the bottom. Underneath, it says “Nesting since 1976.” (my parents anniversary year, of course)
I am so excited to have found my parents, the kind of parents who don’t NEED anything, something that I think will truly make them happy and also bring them joy. I cannot wait to see their face when they open it.
In case anyone wants to see it, here’s the link:
