Our kitchen has a new addition. Hung perfectly on the wall right over the completely useless phone jack. It’s not just pretty, it’s utilitarian. And I love it to death.
You’ve seen this cupcake before, you say? Why yes! They’re the adorably delicious cherry-filled almond cupcakes from two years ago, interpreted in painting form by Indiana artist Sarah Wain.
Sarah contacted me a few months ago asking to use some of my dessert photos in her paintings. And if you’ve seen her paintings, it is obvious Sarah has a sweet tooth just like I do. She is one talented lady, able to capture the texture of cake and buttercream with paint on canvas. I was honored that she wanted to use my images and even more thrilled when she offered to send me a print of the final product.
The original painting is large and gorgeous, a whopping 24×36″. If I had a bigger wall in my kitchen I just might have to buy it. But for now, the print will have to do.
And lucky for you guys, Sarah has so kindly offered up an additional print (canvas gallery wrap OR flat print – your choice!) to one lucky Love & Olive Oil reader!

Sadly my husband and I move so much due to his job that the last few places we have lived I haven’t put anything on my kitchen walls. But if I won this print it would definitely be going up in our new house that we are moving into next month! :)
Right now the walls of my kitchen are coated with the chunky leftovers of a wild day of canning cream-style corm. The lovely yellow is accented by dabs & splatters of a charming Balsamic Berry Jelly (or maybe sauce) that I whipped up.
My dream kitchen would have a full canning pantry wall. Eight-inch deep shelves from floor to ceiling with ventilate4d doors to protect my precious goods. Ahhhh…dreams….

Our home is open concept, so there’s not too much wall space in our kitchen. We have a bulletin board on one wall and cute wicker baskets on top of the cabinets. :)
