Our old toaster was pathetic. Really. When we first moved to Tennessee, while Taylor was reluctantly painting our kitchen walls turquoise, I spent hours online picking out a toaster. I finally purchased a cute little $35 toaster on eBay, wooed by the turquoise color and less concerned about the actual functionality of it. When the toaster finally arrived, the adjustment knob on the front was detached and floating around the box. I emailed the seller about the damage, who promptly refunded my $35 and told me it wasn’t even worth the postage to sent it back.

Fast forward seven years later, and we were still using that little turquoise toaster. Turns out if you carefully reinserted the knob you could still choose the toastiness level just fine. Every time it fell out, we just stuck it back in.

Needless to say, I think we were well overdue for a new toaster.

  54. THIS is EXACTLY the toaster I need.  I don’t currently have one – instead I use a cast-iron pan and weigh the bread down with another pan.  The method makes great toast, but it takes FOREVER!
    I like my toast crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, with chewy crusts.

  58. I have toast every morning. I’ve stopped beating myself up about how I just don’t love smoothies or juices in the morning (texture!) and have embraced that toast to me always goes down fine, makes me happy, and is low maintenance. It’s a love affair. I like mine to be a cinnamon raisin toast with room temperature Kerrygold butter. I’m also a jam lover, so sometimes I have toasted English muffins or butterbread with some salted butter and my new favorite jam or jelly. What I have open now is a seedless blackberry jam I picked up in Tennessee while seeing the Smoky Mountains. I try to remember the mountains every time I eat it.
